Bethlehem Lutheran Church Council

The Bethlehem Lutheran Church Council met on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 @ 7 pm with
the following members present: President Bob Klemetson, Diane Syverson, Pastor Steve Dahl,
Pete Shae, Lyle Ranstrom, Ron Evans, Deb Ashmore, (council secretary), Ed Anderson, Kim
Syverson, Jim Amundson, Roland Atwood, Christy Stall, Sarah West, church treasurer, and
guests Susan Hughey and Vickie Hansen.
President called the meeting to order welcoming new members Christy Stall and Roland Atwood.
DEVOTIONS: None. Deb will present next month.
Guests Susan Hughey and Vickie Hansen came for open mike regarding the 125 year reunion
this summer. The memorial and worship and music committees would like some painting of the
sanctuary to be done before then and also wanted to find out what is happening regarding the
funds donated for new tables. Council has felt that they would like someone to take ownership
of this project and above ladies will spearhead this; find out approximate costs, etc. They will
meet with sub-committee Cris Anderson, Diane Syverson, and Carol Lockhart. They also
requested that any memorial letters from families be given to memorial committee.
5 minutes of Good News: The weather has been great! We finished 2010 well (financially). The
Synod also finished the year well. We do have a current bill for recent propane purchase
though. Pastor has lost 55 pounds!!!
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Motion made (Pete/Roland) and carried to accept minutes as printed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Motion made (Kim/Ron) and carried to accept treasure’s report as
printed.
PASTORS’ REPORT: Apologized for missing the last council meeting as he was in Florida. (!!)
There is going to be a new member dinner Sunday, February 20, 2011 following church services.
(Potluck meal with the council serving it). Pastor will be holding a conference pastor meeting
here next Thursday. Pastor will be preparing the 5th grade students for their first communion.
March 9 is Ash Wednesday. He would like council approval to purchase a new recording device
to record Sunday services.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
STEWARDSHIP: Time and Talent sheets are finished and ready to be sent.
PROPERTY: The bathroom is done. May need to be painted though. Kitchen sink repair
finished. There will be a couple bills for Doug Umphrey and Dan Stall. Motion made (Pete/Ron)
and carried to give Pastor permission to purchase a DVD recorder (there are funds in the
worship & music fund for this).
WORSHIP & MUSIC: Using “One Body Alive” music.
EVANGELISM: New member dinner Sunday, February, 20, 2011.
MEMORIALS: Motion made (Ron/Diane) to take the word “reserve” out of the undesignated
memorial fund. Motion carried.
